Dog fleeces. Until a couple of years ago we'd not even considered placing our dogs into a fleece. And now it's a staple part of any active dog's wardrobe.
So why the popularity of popping our best friends into a fleece jumper or jacket?
Well, fleece coats have been used for humans and horses for many years. The benefits of polar fleece fabric are well known for keeping us warm without the weight of heavy wool or thick padding. So it's no surprise that a well known company, Equafleece, started making fleeces for dogs too. And today there are so many different fleece styles for your dog.
Why Walksters dog fleeces? Our fleeces have been redesigned with feedback from you, our trusty community of dog owners. A fleece jumper is a perfect solution for keeping dogs warm for prolonged periods of time as with no straps there is no friction or rubbing possible. Team this with a snug fit, trapping warm air between the fleece and your dog and you have an ideal product. But there can be one problem. Getting them on and off.
On quickly realising this, the design team at Treat Your Dog encouraged the manufacturers for Walksters products to take a look at solutions. A zip! By adding this half zip into the neck to shoulder area, it allowed more space to get the fleece on and off, ensuring once zipped up that the fleece fitted like a second skin. So dogs that weren't so flexible could now manage to get these on and off.
If your dog wears a harness, fleece jumpers are a great option as the harness will fit over the top so you still have the warmth and control that a harness provides. And with 3 different colours, the options suit us all.
To help with sizing I thought I'd share the dog models fleece sizes so it helps you decide which to order. The black Labrador Retriever wears a 3XL. She's slim for a Labrador but deep chested so this fits well albeit does have space for her to feel comfortable. The apricot Cockapoo wears a XXL and this fits like a second skin and offers lots of warmth, ideal for a doodle who tends to feel the cold. The Golden Retriever wears a 4XL and this fits well and stops his coat from picking up all the mud! The Cavapoo wears a XL as a Small to Medium dog but be careful with this breed as they vary so much in size. The Shih Tzu wears the XL too.
